Today was the last day the French WWOOFer could spend with us, so we took the day off and Macchan kindly took us around Kumamoto prefecture to do some sightseeing. Aso district’s mountainous terrain is also home to a volcano and crater, so it was a nice day of seeing natural wonders. We went to a national park overlooking the Nakodate crater in which the prefecture lies, visited a shrine in the oldest part of Kumamoto prefecture, and saw majestic smoke arising from a sulfuric green lake and plenty of bizarre-looking scenery. Afterwards, we stopped at a restaurant of Macchan’s friend, whom he met through the Peace Boat foundation. There, we feasted on yaki-soba and okonomiyaki, discussed foreign cuisine and ways to say “delicious” in French. It was a cold yet satisfying day, and I will definitely enjoy the imagery of this memorable experience for years to come.
Maybe you can enjoy the somewhat memorable photographs I have provided.
